craigslist

i LOVE to get rid of things.
(ok, i LOVE to buy things too... but i'm trying to quit.)

this week we sold a few pieces of furniture on craigslist.
grant was a little skeptical about people coming to our home.

so when i spoke to the people on the phone, i made sure
to tell them that we do have a very protective 200 lb dog
and that my husband is a retired robocop.
jk. i didn't say the robocop thing,
but it could work if you want to use it.

protective dog
husband

anyway, it was a success!!!

a beautiful middle aged couple from the burbs bought the wood bed.

and johnny new jersey, tan, slicked hair, popped collar, skinny jeans, guido came to buy our sofa.
loved him!  he was no nonsense.  didn't haggle.  came with cash.  brought the truck.  in. out. done.

now i want to sell everything!
cash and a house w/ less stuff.  sign me up!
(grant, i'm kidding, i'm done for now. promise.)

ok, i am just blogging to put off the inevitable.
MONDAY!
time to go to sleep.

january, you did some nice damage to my student loans

my progress in january 2011

student loan beginning balance: $6237

craigslist earnings: $180
eBay earnings: $221
amazon earnings: $13
regular payment plus some: $250

total payments: $663

student loan ending balance: $5573

not too bad! some of the things i sold include a mac mouse, clothes, boots, yoga pants, make up, a chair, coats, film.

it feels great to cleanse and get rid of things we do not need. it feels even better to earn some extra cash towards my student loans!!!

02 January 2011

in an attempt to live more simply
and make some extra money to pay off my student loans,
i have been listing items on ebay and craigslist.
i just sold this pottery barn chair on craigslist.
the buyer met me with a mini cooper!
i told him i was good at tetris and we would make it fit....
and then i stood back and let him and my husband figure it out.
it fit! cha ching. $180 closer to paying off my student loans!
before he drove away he told us it was for his dog.
we understand. enjoy your new chair little doggy!
